How to create a concrete patio
You will need a post hole digger, water-based or oil-based concrete, and base material for your patio. The base should be about “thick and fill the hole. You can also use gravel, sand, or mortar as a base to save money on concrete (although this is not recommended). However, the last option will require waterproofing before and after the concrete is poured.
Once your base is covered, you can start mixing up the concrete. You can either use a tarp to pour the first layer of concrete or use a wheelbarrow and pour it directly onto the base. After running the first layer of concrete, you can refill the hole with whatever base material suits your fancy.
Continue pouring concrete, and when you reach the top, feel free to smooth out the surface however you like. You can do this with a trowel or by hand (smoothing by hand is recommended). Now you have a great place to relax on the patio!
Don’t forget to clean up your site once you’re finished and have spread concrete sealer over your finished project. Please leave it dry for a week or two before putting furniture or plants on it.
